Press Release: Town Announces Street Naming

BAY ROBERTS, NL – The Town of Bay Roberts is proud to announce that the street adjacent to the soccer field leading to Adler Place will officially be named “Summer Games Way” in recognition of hosting the 2024 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games. This tribute celebrates the town’s enduring legacy as a proud host of the province’s largest youth sporting event.

The new street name symbolizes the excitement, unity, and community pride that defined the 2024 NL Summer Games, which brought together over 2,500 athletes, coaches, and volunteers from across the province.

“The 2024 NL Summer Games left a lifetime of memories for the athletes, officials, volunteers and Bay Roberts,” said Mayor Geoff Seymour. “The creation of ‘Summer Games Way’ will serve as a reminder to everyone of what we can achieve when we come together as a community.”

Judy Morrow, Co-Chair of the 2024 Host Committee, said this is certainly a fitting reflection of the town’s achievement. “This street naming ensures we will always remember the spirit, teamwork, and unforgettable memories created here in 2024. It’s a lasting tribute to the volunteers, athletes, and residents who made the Games such a success.”

Co-Chair Neil Kearley echoed that sentiment saying “The Games brought out the best in Bay Roberts and the region, so we are thrilled to have this tribute to all the hard work that was done here. From our tireless volunteers to the smiling faces of visitors and athletes, this street will forever tell the story of what we accomplished together.”

The Town wishes to remind residents of Adler Place that this street naming does not affect their current address as Adler Place remains in place. “Summer Games Way” will be the street that leads to Adler Place.

The new street sign will be erected in the near future.
