Fall Message from Mayor Philip Wood
Fall is here once again! It was a wonderful summer in Bay Roberts where we all enjoyed some fantastic weather. Fall however is a beautiful time of the year in NL with generally nice weather along with the amazing beautiful colors of the season. There will be a variety of activities ongoing this fall season in Bay Roberts as we lead into winter and the opening of our annual Festival of Lights Celebrations.
Currently on the go till mid-November is our “Fall in Love with Bay Roberts” Program. It features and promotes a variety of activities such as Community Breakfasts, a walking group at Goose Pond, fitness classes, family skates, a Pumpkin Festival, Pre-School Crafts, our ever-popular Halloween Park, Toutons & Tunes, the Haunted Walk and so forth. For details on all of these events and more – please check out our website at bayroberts.com or our Facebook page.
I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy what the season has to offer. Get involved and take in as many of these events as possible in order to show your support.
I would be remiss at this time if I did not congratulate and thank all of our volunteers and staff for their efforts in organizing and planning these events – it is recognized and much appreciated.
Residents are also reminded to be very cautious when walking and driving around Town as there is currently a lot of work ongoing. New culverts are going in on the North Side of Shearstown, the Bareneed intersection is being redesigned and new traffic lights being installed, work is occurring in Country Road, roof repairs are ongoing at the Bay Arena and work continues on major upgrades at the Wilbur Sparkes Complex.
I would also like to remind residents about our Recycling Program. With equipment issues this past summer there were some problems and delays. However, hopefully they are now behind us and the program can be rejuvenated even more so than it was previously.
Once again, I urge everyone to continue with our efforts to Reduce, Reuse & Participate so as this project continues to grow – remember Recycling helps our environment in a very big way! In concluding – I hope it is an enjoyable Fall for all! Mayor, Phillip Wood pwood@nf.sympatico.ca
