Mayor Philip Wood’s Christmas Message

The Christmas Season is almost upon us. Lots of people it seems are busy preparing for the upcoming celebrations.
Since the recent Municipal Election, your new Council has been working extremely hard preparing for the next four years. Budget preparations are ongoing, priorities are being established. Future upgrades are being planned. Improvements and changes are being put in place on what is currently happening in Town. These are but a few of the things Council is dealing with and working on.

Mayor Philip Wood

It has been another very successful year for Bay Roberts. The Town continues to grow, to date in 2017, 23 new housing permits have been issued. Water upgrades have been made, street improvements are being made, up-grades have been made to our recreation and park facilities and storm-water issues are being dealt with. These are but a few of the things that have been on-going this past year with more plans currently in place for 2018.
Our Special Events Committee has prepared a Guide where you will find the Program of Events for this year’s Festival of Lights (or you can find the listing @bayroberts.com ). These events have been planned and made possible through the hard work and efforts of Community groups and committees made up of residents, staff and Council members. I would encourage everyone to get involved. This is how memories are created along with helping to create community spirit.
It is the season of peace and goodwill. During this time of the year, let us not forget those in our community who may need something as simple as a smile or need a little extra help in order to ensure that their day is made ever so brighter.
In closing, on behalf of Council and staff, my wife Joan and family, I wish everyone a very safe and joyous Christmas and a very prosperous New Year. I hope that both are filled with a lot of happiness and joy for all!!!
