Mayor Philip Wood’s Fall Message

Mayor Philip Wood

Fall is here once again! It was a wonderful summer in Bay Roberts where we all enjoyed some fantastic weather. Fall however, is also a beautiful time of the year in NL with ‘generally’ nice weather along with the amazing colors of the season.
I certainly hope that the summer was good to you all. It’s been a busy few months in Town on a variety of fronts. There has been a lot of construction ongoing throughout the spring and summer with some of it continuing into the fall. I certainly would like to thank both residents and visitors alike for their understanding and patience with the various disruptions. All of the work we have undertaken, whether it is for upgrading purposes or building upon what we currently have, is for the benefit and safety of all within our community. With the addition of more sidewalks, the adding of green spaces and park areas, replacing the bridge over the Klondyke – making it safer, improving both waste and storm water infrastructure, improving our recreation facilities or adding new pavement in areas – it is all great news for the Town.
There will be a variety of activities ongoing this fall season in Bay Roberts as we lead into winter and the opening of our annual Festival of Lights Celebrations. Currently on the go till mid-November is our “Fall in Love with Bay Roberts” Program. It features and promotes a whole variety of activities such as Community Breakfasts, a walking group at Goose Pond, family skates, fitness classes, a Pumpkin Festival, Pre-School Crafts, our ever-popular Halloween Park, Toutons & Tunes, the Haunted Walk and so forth. For details on all of these events and more – please check out our website at bayroberts.com or our Facebook page. I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy what the season has to offer. Get involved and take in as many of these events as possible in order to show your support and have some great fun. I would be remiss at this time if I did not congratulate and thank all of our volunteers and staff for their efforts in organizing and planning these events – it is much appreciated.
I would also like to remind residents once again about our Recycling Program. I urge everyone to continue with our efforts to Reduce, Reuse & Participate so as this project continues to grow – remember Recycling helps our environment in a very big way and helps reduce costs for all!
In conclusion – I hope that it is an enjoyable fall for everyone!
