Mayor Wood’s 2021 Spring Message

Spring is officially here!!  Let us all hope that it will be a good one leading into what will be a great summer as we move into overcoming Covid and its impact upon our community and world in general.

There will be I am sure a number of activities ongoing both this spring and summer in Bay Roberts and the surrounding area depending of course on the Covid 19 situation. I would encourage everyone to try and get out and about and enjoy what the season has to always offer – with safety in mind. There are several events  that are currently into the planning stages – so stay tuned. Some of these events include the  Songs, Stages & Seafood Festival,  Light the Lamp, and our Annual Klondyke Days which is always a favorite for both residents and visitors alike. However, once again I would have to caution how these, and other events look like will depend upon the ongoing Covid situation and what restrictions may or may not be in place. In the meanwhile, to see everything that is on the go check regularly at bayroberts.com or on our Facebook page.  At this time, I would like to congratulate and thank all our volunteers and staff for their planning and work on these and many other events that are being planned for this spring and summer – all the best -your efforts are much appreciated.

During this spring and summer, the Town will once again see a number of construction projects going on throughout it. I will ask for your patience now and remind everyone that this work is necessary as we upgrade our infrastructure as an essential part of our community’s growth.

In conclusion, on behalf of Council and Staff I would like to wish everyone a very safe and enjoyable spring and summer season! I know the last number of months have been exceedingly difficult and trying on everybody. However, the past few weeks, with the vaccine roll-out things appear to be getting brighter.  So, to all – Hold Fast – we are all in this together and together we will surely get through it.

Take care!

Mayor Philip Wood
