Mayor Wood’s Spring Message 2020

Spring is officially here and I certainly hope that weather-wise it will be a good one leading into what will be an equally good summer! This is also the Easter weekend! To say that this is a ‘different time’ we are all experiencing would I think be an understatement. To put it simply it is a difficult time that requires everyone to make adjustments.
Normally during this spring and summer, the Town sees a lot of construction going on throughout it. Council certainly hopes that some things will continue as usual however, there are lots of different variables that will determine what goes ahead or what will get postponed. Already we have seen the cancelation of our Seafood Festival and the postponement of the NL Summer Games scheduled for this summer. As we move forward I’m sure we will, unfortunately, continue to see some cancelations, delays, and postponements. As mentioned earlier, we are living and experiencing a different time on what could be termed a ‘new normal’. I thank all residents for their cooperation and support and urge that all follow the initiatives, suggestions, requests and new enforcement laws put forth by Government(s) and Public Health Officials as we deal with the coronavirus and overcome it. Additionally, please stay connected, reach out and offer your help to those who may need it. As Queen Elizabeth said recently in her address to all; “we will succeed and that success will belong to every one of us”.
Once again, I would like to extend on behalf of the Town of Bay Roberts a heartfelt thank you to our health care professionals, 1st responders, essential workers, and frontline workers – you all are going above and beyond! In conclusion, on behalf of Council and Staff, I would like to wish everyone a very safe spring and summer season along with a Happy Easter! Take care!

STAY SAFE – STAY APART – STAY AT HOME!!!
