Sports and Recreation Projects

Two major new projects are coming for the Wilbur Sparkes Recreation Complex. These projects will fill community needs.

Skateboard Park

Young people from the Town have been consulted in the design of the new skateboard park. The design is ready and the park will be built at the Wilbur Sparkes Recreation Complex this year. The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, presented the Town of Bay Roberts with a cheque for $15,000 towards the cost of the new skateboard park.

Community Centre

Construction of a new community centre began in 2013, with a completion date of 2015, at the Wilbur Sparkes Recreation Complex. The $50,000 that the town won from Molsen Coors when it participated in a national competition will go towards paying for the first phase of construction.
