Volunteer Week April 15–21, 2018 – Mayor Philip Wood
Volunteer Week has been set this year in NL to be April 15–21st. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the Value of Volunteers”. The theme is meant to highlight and value the many ways in which volunteers help shape our lives and our communities.
Volunteer Week is an opportunity for us to applaud the great spirit of volunteering in our community. Bay Roberts is certainly very fortunate to have so many people who freely give their time. They have helped to shape our community and helped to make it a better place to live and to visit. Volunteers are a very precious resource. Without them, many of our churches, community groups and clubs, sports teams and charitable and special events would not be able to prosper, or even exist, as they do today. As the Town prepares to host the 2020 NL Summer Games, volunteers and their importance will be highlighted even more so.
It is important for us to celebrate and recognize all those who volunteer in our community and say – THANK YOU!!! To all those who play an active role in our Town, please continue to do so. Your efforts are very much needed and appreciated. To those who would like to be more active and involved, please reach out. I encourage you to do so. There are many groups and organizations that can certainly use your help. Every volunteer makes a real difference and I feel you will find it personally very rewarding!
Thank you all once again!
Mayor Philip Wood.
