Reminder: Water Conservation Policy

The Town of Bay Roberts is committed to protecting our community’s water supply and encourages all residents and businesses to use water responsibly. To help conserve water during the summer months, the following seasonal watering restrictions are in effect each year from June 1 to October 1.

Lawn and garden watering is permitted only between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., on the following schedule:

Civic Address Permitted Watering Days
Even-numbered addresses Wednesdays and Saturdays
Odd-numbered addresses Thursdays and Sundays

Hand Watering

Hand watering of trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetable gardens is permitted at any time, provided a watering can or a hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle is used.

New Lawns and Landscaping

Residents installing new lawns or landscaping may water daily between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for a period of 60 days following installation and planting.

Prior notification to the Town is required before this exemption takes effect.

Car Washing and Exterior Cleaning

The following activities are permitted at any time, provided a hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle is used:

  • Car washing (including car wash fundraisers)
  • House siding washing
  • Window washing

Splash Pad Operations

During periods of high water demand or reduced water supply, the Town’s Splash Pad may operate on reduced hours or be temporarily closed.

Commercial Exemptions

Commercial car washes and commercial high-pressure water uses are exempt from this policy.

Water Bans

Should water levels become critically low, Town Council may implement a full water ban at any time. Any additional restrictions will be communicated through the Town’s website, social media channels, Voyent Alert!, and other official communication platforms.

Thank you for helping conserve water and protect this valuable community resource.
